Welcome to Jib Cranes Source
Jib cranes can be used for a variety of jobs and if you are looking for new, used or hire then www.jibcranessource.co.uk is the place to source them
Jib cranes are often the types used in factories. The main structural components that make the familiar half-T shape of a jib are the vertical column, the arm and the over brace. The column can be either free standing, secured to a floor, or attached to a wall. Specialist suppliers are able to recommend other methods of installation.
The actual crane hoist operates the same way as a pulley system with one end of a cable wrapped around a load and the other attached to the jib arm. The arm itself can either be fixed or moveable, in the latter case swinging through an arc and known as a swing jib.
A jib crane can lift weights from a few hundred pounds up to many tons. Some can operate under bridge cranes.
The jib crane is one of many types of crane in use including tower, gantry, overhead, telescope, floating and aerial. Some types are designed to operate over rough terrain.
Manufacturers and/or suppliers of jib cranes include Spanco, Contryx, Gorbel and L.K. Gordon.

jib Cranes
A crane is a lifting machine which can be used both to lift and lower materials and to move them horizontally. They use one or more simple machines to create a mechanical advantage with the ability to move loads beyond the normal capability of a human. Cranes are commonly employed in the transport and construction industries.
More specifically, a jib crane is a type of crane where a horizontal member is supported by a moveable hoist and fixed to a wall or to a floor-mounted pillar. Jib cranes are used in industrial premises and often also on military vehicles. The jibs may swing through an arc (giving them the name swing jibs), to give additional lateral movement, or be fixed. Similar cranes, often known simply as hoists, were fitted on the top floor of warehouse buildings to enable goods to be lifted to all floors.
Whether these are wall-mounted or floor-mounted, all jib cranes have two important characteristics. A jib crane will always rotate and a jib crane will always lift or support a load. Most jib cranes will also have a third motion, that of traverse. By this we mean that the load will be able to traverse the beam from the centre of the circle to the edge of the circle created by the jib as the jib rotates.
Jib cranes typically have a hand-powered rotation and traverse motion, while it is common to see either electric-powered or hand-powered lift motion. The hand-powered rotation and traverse motion are accomplished by push and pull function, while the hand-powered lifting is accomplished by a chain similar to a non-powered garage door. Options for electric rotation and traverse are available on almost all jib cranes for those wishing to purchase such a crane.
